Ultimate Trail Running 1.0 – Run High or Low
Ultimate Trail Running 1.0. High – Low! All trail surfaces can be divided into obstacles (High) and flat smooth (Low). This makes trail running interesting and challenging. Because of the variety and sheer quantity of information gathered by your eyes, it’s helpful to decide as you scan the trail ahead, which aspects of the surface you will focus on ‘high’ or ‘low’. This means choosing to stay only on the higher obstacles (rocks, logs,) or run on the lower areas avoiding the obstacles. With this decision you simplify the info allowing you fewer, faster footing choices. Choosing ‘high’ or ‘low’ constantly changes depending on what’s most available. Experiment with it on your next run and practice limiting the “info” while increasing your confidence and speed. Have fun!
